Sweet, Sticky & Spicy Tofu

I love tofu. It is one of my favorite items to cook with because it’s low-calorie and high in protein. My go-to flavor for tofu is soy-sauce because it’s easy, but I’ve been getting tired of it. I used the Yummly app on my iPhone to find some new easy tofu marinades this last week, and this one is a true winner. It was so easy to make, and the flavor was outstanding.

Sweet, Sticky & Spicy Tofu

Ingredients
1 block extra firm tofu (pressed, cut into cubes)
3 tbsps hoisin sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp chives (finely chopped)
2 pinches red pepper flakes
olive oil (for sauteeing)

  1. Combine Hoisin sauce with soy sauce, chives and red pepper flakes. Add cubed tofu and marinate for at least 20 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a non-stick pan and saute cubed tofu until it’s golden on all sides. The Hoisin sauce will give the tofu it’s sticky and sweet quality; while the red pepper flakes will add some spice.
